Water is calming. Water can be scary. Water makes life possible and water can wipe that life away. And the Earth has so much water.
Each drop of water has experienced a journey. Evaporations, as rain, snow or ice. The waters seeped into the Earth’s surface and found its way back into rivers, lakes and oceans. It has seen the brilliant sunlight of the Tropics, the frigid Arctic cold and suffered the turmoil of violent winds. I often attempt to capture a range of the waters’ experiences in a single painting, a time lapse image of a seascape, above the surface and below as well.
